It is 2011, what now?

9 Jan

Now that I’ve survived a full week of the New Year,  it’s time for GOALS Smile

I usually don’t do New Year’s Resolutions because, well, we all know how those go. I have several goals that I’ve only kept in my mind but realize to be accountable I will need to get them out in the open.  To keep myself accountable and as a visual reminder I will share them with you.

Personal:

Pay off CC debt. I don’t have a ton but enough to feel like it’s not shrinking.  I need to focus on one at a time until it is paid off and move on to the next.

Save $.  I have $ automatically transferred to my savings account and had some there until Christmas came along…that is now gone. Got to build it up again and NOT touch it.

Eat out less, pack lunches.  I have gotten lazy with packing lunch and end up eating out for lunch more times than not.  If I work on this I will save $ so this will knock 2 goals out at once. I will limit myself to 2 lunches out a week, and 1 meal out on weekends.

Try new recipes Smile  I noticed we get stuck in a food rut and eat the same meals over and over. That gets boring so I plan to try one new recipe every week.

Health/Fitness:

Take daily multi vitamin/calcium supplement.  I used to be so good with this, and not sure what went wrong but I stopped all together. I’m off to a good start so far Winking smile

Register for a 5k. After doing the Girls on the run 5k it left an itch to do a “grown up”, can’t wait Smile

Exercise regularly! Minimum of 4 workouts per week, no matter what they are, my goal is just MOVE. I have slacked in this area, besides and occasional run here and there I have not kept it consistent and I don’t feel good about it. I will change this! I have been in a rut and need to “spice” up my workouts by planning. I realize 4x a week is not a lot but it’s better than nothing and I need to start off slow to get my groove back.

Career:

Become a Certified Personal Trainer again.  I say again because at one point in my life (8 years ago) I was a Personal Trainer.  This was the most rewarding job I have ever had. I loved it, I loved helping people change their lives. It didn’t pay much and required time from me that at that time of my life I didn’t have.  I was in school full time and became pregnant. I hope to be able to get back into that field one day and the first step is to become certified.  I will do this!

On the career note, I currently work in the IT field and like what I do.  I have been at my current workplace for 5 years, work for a major computer company but am definitely ready for something more.  Whether it be to move on to a different role at my current place or something totally different, I feel that this is the year to make those changes so I can LOVE and not only like what I do every day. Smile

Do you like making resolutions? Doesn’t it sound better to call them Goals? Is it a mental thing??

Great “goals”! I feel like I will keep them if they are called goals since in my mind resolution has a negative connotation.

A few of mine are similar to yours. I love trying a new recipe every wk or every other wk, it opens my eyes to new things!

I think I’ll try to make one new recipe a week too! I like that one. It’s good to shake things up in the kitchen!!
