Christmas 2010

28 Dec

I hope everyone had a great holiday.  While ours was wonderful I can’t help but feel a little sad that it came and went so quickly.  Time flies though and I’m sure before we know it the holidays will be back again Smile

I’m going to spare you details and just let the pictures explain all that has been going on in our neck of the woods in the last week or so…

I packed/shipped a little something for the Blogger Gift Exchange, hope she enjoyed it. Special thanks to Tina for coordinating this for us Smile

Faced the mall crowds so Lexi could see Santa.

Christmas Eve, spent a lot of time in the kitchen baking goodies for St. Nick.

Had the cutest little helper…who probably at more cookie dough that day than she should have but hey it was Christmas Eve!

Made Mexican Wedding Cookies

..and good ol’ Sugar Cookies

…and the most delicious Thumbprint Cookies ever!

Set out the goods for Santa.

The next morning she woke up to this Open-mouthed smile

After what felt like hours of unwrapping gift after gift, she felt like this…

The rest of the day was spent, playing Just Dance 2 on the Wii,  consuming way a lil too much alcohol with family and friends.  All in all it was a great day filled with great new memories.

Is anyone else having post holiday blues? Must be all the excitement leading up to the “big day” and  then poof it is here and gone…

All about girls weekend

13 Dec

This weekend was jam packed with fun activities revolving around girls.  Saturday afternoon we hosted our Girl Scout troop’s annual Christmas party.  That means the morning was spent cleaning and sneaking in a little bit of baking.

The girls were so excited to celebrate an early Christmas with their pals. They started off with decorating sugar cookies with lots and lots of icing and sprinkles.

Then they had hardly any pizza because they were more interested in cookies and candy some pizza.

They made snowman ornaments.

..and poinsettia hair clips.

Followed by exchanging secret pal gifts.

The fun didn’t end there.  We then hopped in the car, drove to our local grocery store for Christmas caroling/blanket drive.

Lastly, they enjoyed a hot chocolate from Starbucks Smile  Yes we start them young in our neck of the woods.

The girls had a great time as usual.

Next weekend we are getting together for another community event and cleaning up a city park!

Stay tuned for part 2 of the girls weekend, 5k recap 🙂

My least favorite part of Christmas

5 Dec

I think it is obvious from my previous post that I LOVE Christmas. Why do I love thee? Let me count the ways….

  • I love the smell of fresh pine.
  • I love all the glimmering lights inside and out.
  • I love the added accessories our house gets to sport Winking smile
  • I love shopping for others!
  • I love the look on my daughters face Christmas morning.
  • I love the hugs she gives me while we decorate and her telling me that our tree(s) make her feel so happy Smile
  • I love that it brings our families together.
  • I love that AZ finally cools down under 80.

I could go on and on….

There is only one thing about this holiday that I do not love, wrapping gifts! I despise it.  If I could stuff everyone’s gifts in bags without it looking tacky, believe me, I would.  Maybe I dislike it so much because there are so many gifts to wrap? We have a very big (extended) family and we buy for every one of their children. After all it is for the kids isn’t it?  That only means, wrapping gifts for days.

We decided to get a head start yesterday (Lexi was bugging all week) and wrapped all most of our Black Friday goods.  It’s a good thing I had helpers, hubby tackled them with me and Lexi wrote all the tags.

To make the process less painful we popped in The Polar Express.

It feels good to get that out of the way, it doesn’t feel good knowing there is more to come.

Do you like wrapping gifts? What is your least favorite part of Christmas? I love the way they look in the end but the whole process is such a drag to me.

Deck the halls!

5 Dec

Over the past week of my blogging hiatus there have been not 1, or 2 BUT 3 Christmas trees put up at our house.  Yes 3. Christmas has official puked inside and out of our house.  I LOVE IT!

We pick up our real tree the day after Thanksgiving every year.  It’s our little tradition Smile  That is the tree we get to enjoy daily, the smell of pine fills our family room, it’s fantastic.  Then we have the fake white tree that sits in front of our front window that I let the kids (My DD, niece and nephew) decorate as they please without me rearranging helping place any of the ornaments.  The third of the household trees is the mini pink tree that my daughter sets up in her room, err.. this year in her playroom.

I guess you could technically say we have 5 trees if you count the 2 little one above. haha. Well they are lighted and decorated after all Open-mouthed smile

There has also been some garland hung and our formal dining room table is decked out .

Would you say Christmas is our very favorite of all holidays? Winking smile

Too busy to blog

1 Dec

Life is crazy busy with holiday events, child schedule, work madness etc etc. I miss posting daily but at the end of the day the last thing I want to do is sit in front of a computer when I should be sleeping. Forgive me. I do have several post in mind that I should get to this weekend.

Props to those who manage life and blog life daily, you rock!

I leave you with a pic of our Christmas tree. Omg it is December!!!….back to life. TTFN 🙂

Ready for Christmas!

23 Nov

Our household is ready for the holidays!  While the interior still has “fall” decorations the exterior is decked out for our favorite holiday, Christmas!!

Hubby was on it this year and got started with the outside décor (his job) early Smile  Oh and the string of icicles that was out in this pic is fixed, he is that good Winking smile

Yes, that would be my kid in a tank and sandals in 60ish degree weather, true Arizonan! haha

The local radio station is also ready, as of Friday they have started all day x-mas music.  My co-workers hate me, it’s on at work too. Bahahahaha.
